Lilly Came Along, and Riley Was Absolutely Here for It
Lilly joined me for a recent round of walks, and Riley absolutely adored her. Honestly, the welcome committee was excellent. It was one of those little moments that reminds me why I love this work.

A familiar backup is more than a name on a list
Lilly has been my backup walker and pet sitter for years. She wanted to tag along and meet the pets, and watching Riley enjoy her company made the outing even sweeter. When someone else may help with care, I want the pet’s routine to be the part that still feels familiar.
That means knowing more than where the leash hangs. It means understanding how a pet starts a walk, what the owner has asked us to do, and which details help the visit feel like their ordinary day. Any arrangements for backup care should be discussed with the family ahead of time, including who will visit and how updates will be handled.
The little moments are the good stuff
I began caring for pets professionally in 2013, and I still enjoy seeing each personality come through. One dog wants to get moving. Another needs a thorough investigation of the grass before we go anywhere. A happy greeting can make a regular workday feel pretty special.
Riley’s enthusiasm is Riley’s story, of course. Another pet might need a quieter introduction and more space. I never want a shy animal to feel that they have to put on a show. The best introduction is the one that suits the pet, even when it is considerably less dramatic than Riley’s.
Your pet’s routine comes along with us
When you inquire, tell me about the things you already know: their usual walk, their favorite pace, how they respond to new people, and what makes them comfortable. We send photos and a note after visits so you can stay connected to their day.
