Your Pet Sitter Meet-and-Greet: Let’s Get to Know the Real Routine

You do not have to tidy away your pet’s entire personality before we meet. The bouncy greeting, the shy retreat, and the very specific dinner expectations are useful things to know. A pet sitter meet-and-greet is where we start turning those details into a care plan.

Start with the care you are looking for

Share your address, dates or recurring days, and the kind of visit you need before arranging the introduction. Are we discussing weekday dog walks, care while you travel, or a cat visit? Coverage and schedule availability need to fit first. That makes the conversation practical for both of us.

During the meeting, show me what a normal day looks like. Where are the supplies? How are meals served? Which equipment does your dog wear? Tell me about the route you usually take and any places you avoid. The little details you handle automatically are often the most useful ones to demonstrate.

Let each pet have their own introduction

Some dogs announce a visitor like they have been hired to host a game show. Others prefer a little distance. Cats may choose to attend from behind the sofa. Tell me what usually helps, and we can let the introduction follow their comfort rather than expecting an instant friendship.

Please mention guarding, escape attempts, handling concerns, or anything your pet finds difficult. That information helps us decide whether the requested care is a good fit and how it should be managed. A meet-and-greet is a conversation, not a test your animal needs to pass.

It is also your chance to ask about my experience, updates, and approach. I have provided professional pet care since 2013, and Waldorf Walkers is insured through Pet Sitters Associates. You receive photos and a note after visits. Tell me what you most want to hear about, so those updates are useful to you.

Leave the practical instructions in writing

The ASPCA recommends sharing contact details, veterinary information, health needs, and the pet’s normal routine with a sitter. Keep that information current. If medication is involved, discuss the instructions and whether I can provide the requested care before booking; do not assume every treatment is included.

Home access information should be shared privately. Demonstrate any tricky latch or door while you are there, and explain where your pet should be when I arrive and leave. Written instructions give us something clear to refer to after the introduction.
