Winter Dog Walks: Warm Paws, Happy Sniffs
Cold mornings do not cancel your dog’s interest in checking the neighborhood news. When winter arrives in Southern Maryland, a thoughtful dog-walking plan can help make those important breaks more comfortable.

Match the outing to your dog and the weather
A comfortable walk depends on more than the number on the thermometer. Wind, wet fur, icy ground, age, coat, and health can change what feels manageable. Tell your walker how your dog normally handles the cold, and ask your veterinarian about any activity limits.
For a dog who needs a gentler day, discuss a shorter outdoor potty break followed by indoor attention or play. Severe weather, unsafe roads, or slippery surfaces may require a schedule change; confirm the plan before a storm arrives.
Give those paws a little attention
Ice, snow, and de-icing products can irritate paws. The ASPCA recommends wiping and drying paws after walks and checking for irritation. Keep a towel by the door and tell your walker about your usual paw-care routine and any products you use.
Check that the harness or collar fits securely over any coat and that identification is current. Share your preferred route, slippery spots to avoid, and any trouble your dog has with steps.
Make a workday plan
Our weekday dog walks include an update and can be tailored to the routine you share. A 30-minute visit is $30; qualifying Weekly Walk Club visits are $27.50 each when booked four or more weekdays a week between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Based in Hughesville, we serve homes within 20 miles, including nearby Waldorf where the address is within the radius. Tell Jennifer about your dog and schedule so we can check availability.
