The Cat Under the Bed Still Deserves a Great Visit
Not every cat is the official household greeter. Some supervise from the sofa. Some supervise from under the bed. Both are allowed! A good cat sitting visit meets the cat where they feel comfortable.

Show your sitter the secret headquarters
Before a trip, point out your cat’s favorite hiding places, usual resting spots, and rooms they may enter. Tell us whether they normally come running for dinner or wait until the house is quiet. Knowing their baseline helps us understand what we are seeing.
Cats Protection advises giving shy cats time and space rather than pressuring them to interact. That might mean sitting quietly nearby, using a calm voice, and letting the cat decide whether to approach. Pulling a worried cat from a safe hiding place to get a cuddle or a photo is not the goal.
Routine is the real VIP treatment
Leave feeding amounts, water arrangements, litter instructions, and any veterinarian-provided care directions in writing. Include how many cats live in the home and how you tell them apart. In a multi-cat household, each cat needs an individual check, not just a headcount of food bowls.
If your cat enjoys play, show us the toy and the kind of game they like. A familiar, supervised play session may be welcome; another cat may prefer quiet company. Put wand toys and strings away afterward. We want the visit to feel predictable, whether the cat offers a grand entrance or a discreet peek.
Updates can be useful without a perfect portrait
A photo is lovely, but the important information includes whether your cat was located, what care was completed, and anything unusual that needs your attention. A suddenly hidden cat, a change in eating, or another departure from normal should not simply be written off as shyness. Contact your veterinarian about health concerns.
Our drop-in cat sitting keeps familiar routines at home. We welcome inquiries from Waldorf, Charles County, Calvert County, and St. Mary’s County, subject to address and availability. Tell us about your cat’s personality and travel dates, then use our vacation checklist to gather the details.
